Synopsis
A collection of texts by a group of international art superstars comments on an extraordinary exhibition of mostly film and video works exploring the "supposed opposition of seeing and not-seeing." Leading the investigation is artist Javier Tellez references a classic text on blindness (Diderot's Letter on the Blind, for the Use of Those Who See), and juxtaposes it with the story of the blind men and the elephant, which insists that perception always depends on a particular point of view. Includes works by John Baldessari on the pure tension of thermometry, Harun Farocki on acute pain and Luc Teymans on eloquently simple, painterly shadows. This series of short texts creates a retrospective, photographic march through the exhibition, and a learned as well as entertaining explanation of the phenomenon by Lambert Wiesinger.
