Synopsis

This text unites the positions of seven contemporary photographers (including Ann Mandelbaum and Peter Peryer), all of them focused on the object and its representation in photography. The object itself, the "measure of all things" plays a role of central significance, for the concept of measure points to both the process of change through the medium and to a view of the meaning of things that is grounded in individual experience. Things are estranged from their usual context in a medium whose psychological and philosophical dimensions are increasingly important.
