Beginning with the installationMoulin Rouge, which Hopf completed over the course of 13 years, the book showcases the artist’s work through a range of aquarelles, poster overpaintings, mural and ceiling paintings, and journey pictures. In their contributing texts, the selectors explain why they feel drawn to a particular work, reflecting in their personal opinions the art’s charisma and transcendent quality.
