Synopsis

This lecture is intended as an introduction to the mathematical concepts of algebraic and analytic geometry. It is addressed primarily to theoretical physicists, in particular those working in string theories. As an example he presents the Krichever-Novikov construction of algebras of Virasaro type. About the Author

Martin Schlichenmaier is full professor for mathematics at the University of  Luxemburg. He has held several teaching and research positions in the mathematics department of the University of Mannheim.
