Synopsis
How does one account for the change in style of Edgar Degas' work during the latter half of his life? Starting in 1870, what reason was behind the artist gradually adopting such a different style, so removed from the meticulous precision of his initial approach to painting? About the Author
Michael F. Marmor, Physician and Professor of Ophthalmology at the Stanford University School of Medicine. Specialist on the link between medicine and art, he recently analyzed the relationship between vision, eye disease and art in the book The Eye of the Artist (Mosby, 1997).
