About the Author

Back in 1983, Kip left his fast-paced management job in the auto industry and ventured west. Since then, he has fought forest fires, patrolled the backcountry on skis and horseback, explored technical mountain faces, built trails, and maintained remote cabins for the Forest Service in Oregon, Montana, Wyoming, California, and Alaska.

Marya is the author of several Prufrock bestsellers, including Real Life Math Mysteries, It’s Alive!, and Extreme Math, which she cowrote with her husband Kip. They have four wonderful, spontaneous, gifted children scattered across the country.
