Synopsis

Young authors need to see their works in print and know that someone is reading their work. Whether in a classroom collection, a school literary magazine, or a commercial publication, getting students' work published is a challenge.

Written by a seasoned classroom teacher, Getting Kids Published is a guide to helping your young authors write for other readers. Covering topics such as choosing an audience, querying national publications, and displaying work, this book is a must for any creative writing class.

This guidebook offers teachers the practical information they need to find authentic audiences for their students' writing and advice for making their students feel successful as writers. From discussions of prewriting ideas, to techniques to encourage cooperative learning through editing groups, to ways students can publish their writing, this book has it all.
