Regardless of where you live, The New Orleans Program invites you to bring the spirit of New Orleans into your kitchen--and into your life.
Using the best that the culture of New Orleans has to offer, the authors combine their knowledge of medical health and culinary arts to offer more than one hundred recipes tied to New Orleans events and celebrations. With recipes ranging from Lower French Quarter grillades for Mardi Gras, to oyster-leek bake for Lent and blackened tuna wrap for Jazz Fest, you will be inspired to experience a taste of New Orleans anytime of the year.
In addition to recipes, the book also includes critiques of current diet fads, commentary and facts on balancing intake of alcohol, protein, and carbohydrates, and advice on exercise, vitamins, and much more. Complementing the scientific data are delightful ruminations and ideas for creative ways to experience a healthy good time at New Orleans festivals and events, from second-line parades to second helpings of red beans and rice.
