Synopsis
This is the story of an incredible man who has given his life to his alma mater. Perles entered Michigan State in 1957 and as a sorphomore in 1958, sustained a serious knee injury that ended his playing career. George Peries became Coach Perles and continued on as the student coach for the Green and White. Coach Perles' career began its meteoric rise when in 1972 he was hired by the Pittsburgh Steelers and became Chuck Noll's defensive line coach. Throughout the '70s, the Steelers' defence dominated under Perles and in 1979, he was promoted to assistant head coach. This book goes behind the scenes to explore the successes and challenges that Coach Peries faced in his career, including the trying finish to his career.
