About the Author

Francis V. O'Connor is an independent art historian who has published and lectured extensively on the Abstract Expressionist movement and its artists. He lives in New York City. Melvin P. Lader is professor of twentieth-century American and European art history at George Washington University. He lives in Alexandria, Virginia. Thomas M. Messer is Director Emeritus of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. He lives in New York City.
