Velasco is a member of the Boulder County BAR Association (he is not an attorney), he has developed courses on cross-cultural issues related to law, based on his own research and experience as a certified interpreter, a bilingual mediator in the judicial branch of Colorado, and a cross-cultural communications expert. Throughout the eighteen years prior to working in the US legal system, German E. Velasco was involved in professional translation, writing, and media communications. He is a permanent contributor to newspapers and magazines, a lecturer, and also a media producer in Latin America and the United States. German E. Velasco graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and before working in the US legal system, he spent eighteen years doing work as public policy expert in Latin America.
