Synopsis

History has proven over and over again that a few dedicated individuals, when working in the noble cause of freedom, justice, and peace, can alter the course of human events. With this collection of essays describing the political plight of Bangladesh, author Mohammed D. Hussain hopes that his passion and his powerful message will resonate with peace-loving people around the world and help to effect the change his country desperately needs. It Was Glorious: Not a Cheap Shot recounts, though a series of essays and short poems, the political history of Bangladesh, including the modern rise of tyranny, violence, and corruption. Hussain laments the erosion of freedom of speech and the loss of an independent judicial system. He describes the regime of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as the greatest political catastrophe in Bangladeshi history and argues that her government poses a threat to the sovereignty and integrity of the nation he loves.
