First of all I would like to thank any reader that has found their way to this Amazon listing. In the beginning it was never intended for this work to be published as it was a project for a cathartic recovery following illness. However from the positive response I received from, what at first was a small readership, I enlisted many more poor souls for a greater opinion. I was greatly heartened that the story appealed to a wide demographic ranging from teens to octogenarians and both genders.
I have tried to take the reader on an emotional journey with the main character Julie and I have been assured that this has been achieved. The inspiration for the story came one Christmas when at a boxing day party I met someone who had travelled to this country to spend the festive season with an individual they had struck up a friendship in an internet chat room. However after a brief encounter at the airport they were jilted. A person on seeing their distress invited them to spend the holiday with their family.
I started the work as total fiction and I was told by one reader that the story appeared rather far fetched. However this person contacted me shortly afterwards asking if I had seen the news as a story on there bore a striking resemblance to the tale I was telling. Since this time many other references I made in the book, which I thought to be rather unbelievable, have been shown to be more factual than fiction.
