Using a multidisciplinary approach, the book concludes that doctrine can be utilized in three key ways: as a tool of command, as a tool of change, and as a tool of education.

Harald Høiback is a Lieutenant Colonel and lectures at the Norwegian Defence University College, Oslo. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Oslo (2010).
