Charlotte Firth qualified as a speech & language therapist in 1989 from Leeds Metropolitan University. She has always worked in Yorkshire, initially with adults and children in clinic and hospital settings, but she began to specialise in paediatric work in 1990. Katherine Venkatesh qualified as a speech & language therapist in 1986 from Leeds Metropolitan University. Since then, she has worked in North Derbyshire and Scarborough specializing in working with children in a variety of settings. She has also qualified as a course tutor for the Derbyshire Language Scheme.
