The world wide web has made the world a much smaller place. Writing Virtual Roots has given me the opportunity to visit the major repositories of the world and explore their collections and to bring you along for the tour.

Now we can instantly search birth records in Australia, census records in Canada or baptismal registers in England. All at the click of a button. Virtual Roots tells you what is on-line and where to find it.
Here I have tried to single out for you the best 1,000 +/- websites that you will really want to use and return to. These are arranged by country/state, by topic and by family surname. Sites that have solid content, that will give you the answers to your research questions.
