About the Author:

IAN A. GOLDIN assumed his current position as Vice President of External Affairs, United Nations Affairs, in May 2003. He provides leadership in the relationship between the Bank and the global community. Previously, he was the Director of Development Policy at the World Bank. Before joining the Bank, He spent five years as the Chief Executive and Managing Director of the Development Bank of South Africa. Before this, he worked as a principal economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and at the World Bank as a senior economist in the Middle East and North Africa Region
