Synopsis
The tasks in this text are modelled on the rubrics and task types in the GCSE examinations to begin in 1998. Most, therefore, have German rubrics and require a response in German. A few of the more complex comprehension and interpretation tasks, and scenario settings for writing tasks and role play contexts, are in English, as in the examination. A list of standard German rubrics is included to allow for preparation of the exam.;There is one unit for each of the five Areas of Experience in the National Curriculum orders for German. Within each unit, all four skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing - are covered through tasks which draw on sources and stimuli typical of the GCSE papers.
