About the Author
The book is a collaboration by experts at The Open University, UK. Editor and contributor Jonathan Silvertown is Professor of Ecology in the Department of Life Sciences at The Open University, and is internationally-known for his research on the evolution and ecology of plants. Caroline Pond is Professor of Comparative Anatomy in the Department of Life Sciences, at The Open University. She is an authority on the comparative and functional anatomy of adipose tissue and has long experience of teaching general and comparative biology. David Robinson is a zoologist and evolutionary biologist in the Department of Life Sciences at The Open University. Peter Skelton is a palaeobiologist in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at The Open University, and is recognised internationally as an authority on fossil bivalves and their evolution. Daniel Nettle is a psychologist in the Centre for Behaviour and Evolution at the University of Newcastle and an expert in the use of theoretical models and experimental psychology to study the application of evolutionary theory to contemporary human behaviour. Monica Grady is Professor in Planetary Sciences at The Open University, and one of the world's leading meteorite experts. Gary Slapper is Professor of Law at The Open University, and has a long-standing interest in legal battles over the teaching of Darwinism in the USA.
