Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. 21 x 18.5 cm. 12pp. Bound in glossy obards. 3 Pull tabs, wheel, and "picture frame" all present and functional. A more recent edition of the work originally done in Berlin in 1930. From the the back cover: "'Tom' Seidmann-Freud was actually a very extraordinary woman! Martha Seidmann-Freud was the artist niece of Sigmund Freud and like her famous uncle, held her hown, very decided views. Over half a century ago, she designed a moveable book that would 'delight and surprise' full of games, stories, and ingenious ways for the reader to take part. First Edition. Numbered volume from the Megan and Michael Dawson collection of pop-up books. Fine copy in the original colour-printed boards. Remains remarkably well-preserved overall. Summary; A collection of stories and poems, together with a puzzle and a Punch-and-Judy play, illustrated with movable pictures, by the artist niece of Sigmund Freud. Tom Seidmann Freud, nee Martha Freud, a children's book illustrator and author celebrated for her deceptively simple yet modern style. An eccentric niece of Sigmund Freud, she was born in Vienna in 1892 and moved with her family nine years later to Berlin. She was an artistically gifted and intendent child, and at fifteen changed her name to Tom (allegedly to avoid sexism she might encounter as a female artist).
