This workshop begins with an overview of the research supporting parent training programs for parents of children with disruptive behavior problems. Dr. Cunningham then presents the research supporting his group-based parenting program (COPE). Dr. Cunningham details each session of the COPE program and models example sessions. He describes ways in which COPE facilitators teach behavioral strategies for managing child disruptive behavior. In addition, Dr. Cunningham describes ways in which COPE facilitators can address parental attributions of child disruptive behavior. He also includes strategies for facilitating group sessions for parents who are at different levels of engagement in the program.
