By formulating and applying an analytical framework derived from a Gramscian approach, Markakis seeks to propose a re-evaluation of what US foreign policy in the Middle East truly constitutes, critiquing both the ideological foundations of the strategy as well as the implementation.

Dionysis Markakis is the Research Associate at the Center for International and Regional Studies (CIRS) at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in Qatar. He holds a PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
