Since the first edition of this book was published, there have been many changes in education. The second edition has been compiled to develop and update the earlier successful book. Managing Misbehaviour in Schools deals with the theory and practice of managing pupils' behaviour in schools and brings the subject fully up to date, looking at the effects of the recent Children Act and the 1992 White Paper on Education. The authors deal with the theoretical background of developing, assessing and understanding children's behaviour; the relationship between learning and behaviour problems; the dynamics of emotional and behavioural difficulties; and with behavioural approaches. Later chapters consider the effect of pastoral care on behaviour in schools, liaison with other helping agencies, and work with parents. In a wide-ranging final chapter, the editors review the various strands of the book, developed from theory to classroom and school practice, and offer a set of practical guidelines for teachers and students in their daily task of managing pupils' behaviour to enable appropriate learning to take place.
Summaries of the main points in recent legislation and reports are given in an appendix. The contributors and the editors - who themselves contribute nearly half the book - are experienced and well-known writers in the field of education."About this title" may belong to another edition of this title.
