Synopsis
Questioning has been recognised as the means by which teachers help students to construct meaning, yet teachers are often not secure as questioners and students tend to be shut out of the questioning process. Morgan and Saxton offer practical help to improve questioning skills for teachers and students, presenting models, techniques, activities and examples. Their three-part classification of general functions for questions shows how teachers can use them to acquire information, build understanding and generate reflection. Each section of the book is illustrated with an example lesson drawn from the authors' own experience or those of their colleagues and students.
