Synopsis

Synopsis
Both an introduction and workbook in stylistics, this book approaches the subject area of stylistics by providing students with an understanding of the main principles involved. Looking at a variety of topics, such as "recorded speech" and "narrative structures", students are gradually introduced to the principles of linguistic analysis of texts and encouraged from the outset to do textual analysis themselves.
