It presents case studies of different aspects of children's authorship from letter-writing to rule making and includes 109 examples of children's work. It aims to show how the intellectual processes which contribute to the development of a text are just as important as the final text. The author has also written "The Emergence of Literacy" and "The Literate Classroom".
