Synopsis

While insights are drawn from contemporary descriptive models, the familiar terminology of traditional grammar is retained wherever possible. Through sample analyses of a range of texts, both literary and non-literary, the authors demonstrate how a knowledge of grammar can provide a heightened understanding of how language works.
