Auf die Stellung des Principats gegenuber den Col legien bin ich nicht nur deswegen ausführlicher eingegangen, weil die Kenntnis derselben für das Verständnis des Wesens und der Entwicklung unsrer collegialen Praefektur durchaus notwendig ist, sondern weil eine ubersichtliche und zusammenhängende Dar stellung der von den Kaisern den Collegien gegenüber eingehal tenen Politik, so weit ich sehen kann, noch fehlt, und weil man ches, was bisher darüber geschrieben worden ist, mir nicht in allen Teilen richtig erscheint.
