Synopsis
Retaining the framework of its first edition, this book has been revised to take account of recent developments, new techniques and improvements in the understanding of piling engineering. Piling is a fast-moving field and in recent years there have been major advances in theory, methods, testing procedures and equipment, all of which are covered here. Some new additions include discussion of continuous flight auger piles, controlling corrosion and chemical attack, and interlocking pile-retaining wall systems. This is a detailed manual, with a marked emphasis on practice. It draws together design techniques, methods of testing and analysis of piles, and is intended for geotechnical and foundation engineers, and as a reference source for civil and structural engineers and advanced engineering students.
