Synopsis
Bishop George Appleton has selected more than 1,100 prayers covering many centuries, including some from the Bible, from the saints and mystics of the past, as well as from religions other than Christianity and also contemporary prayers from different parts of the world. The prayers are arranged under headings such as "Prayers from the Scriptures", "Prayers of Christians, personal and occasional", "Prayers from other traditions of faith". There is a subject index to guide the user for particular occasions and an index of authors and sources. This book may be used for browsing or for more structured prayer, for private meditation or for public worship.

About the Author
About the Editor George Appleton, a retired Bishop, has had a wide and varied ministry in the Anglican Church. He served for a short time as Archdeacon of London and Canon of St. Paul's Cathedral. He was elected Archbishop of Perth, Western Australia in 1963 and was Archbishop in Jerusalem from 1969 to 1974.
