Book Description
In Rod and Line, Ransome explores a wide range of angling experiences, from the morality of nymphs, to fishing inns and even how to make spinning interesting. After all, as he so aptly remarks, 'The pleasures of fishing are chiefly to be found in rivers, lakes and tackle-shops and, of the three, the last are the least affected by the weather.
About the Author
Arthur Ransome, born in 1884, went on to become famous as the author of the Swallows and Amazons books, known all over the world. He spent many happy summers at Nibthwaite, on the shores of Coniston Water and worked for the Manchester Guardian as a foreign correspondent, travelling to Russia and reporting at first-hand the events of the Revolution in 1917.
