Albert Einstein changed the way physicists view the universe – and transformed the way we all see the world. Just over one hundred years ago, his Theory of Relativity stunned scientists, but today it is integral to modern thought as the most important scientific discovery of the twentieth century.

In this unique single volume, Stephen Hawking has assembled the highlights of Einstein’s groundbreaking scientific work. Collected here are Einstein’s own illuminating writings on the Theory of Relativity, which present a world of paradoxes in which space is bent and time is curved. Yet Einstein was known not only for his landmark ideas in physics. Here too are his reflections on politics and religion, and his musings on the ultimate significance of his scientific findings.

About the Author:

Albert Einstein (1879 – 1955) was one of the greatest minds in world history. A brilliant physicist he has contributed more to the scientific world than any other person. Best known for his theory of relativity and his mass-energy equivalence, E = mc2. , in 1921 he received the Nobel Prize in Physics. Einestein’s work set the mould for how science currently views time, space, energy, and gravity. Einstein was known not only for his groundbreaking views on Physics but also for his thoughtful views on politics, religion and the interplay between science and the world.

Stephen Hawking is a theoretical physicist and, like Sir Isaac Newton before him, a Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at Cambridge. He is the author of the bestselling A Brief History of Time, which remained on the New York Times bestseller list for a record-breaking 237 weeks.
