John Wyndham was born in England in 1903. He started to write short stories in 1925 and continued to do so until 1939. In 1946, after the war, he returned to writing, and decided to try 'science fiction'. Among his many novels, he wrote The Kraken Wakes, The Chrysalids and The Midwich Cuckoos, all published by Penguin. He died in 1969.
