Synopsis

THE ELIXIR AND THE STONE tells the fascinating story of the alternative philosophy of hermeticism which originated in Greek Alexandria and which went underground for many centuries under the assault of Christianity. It includes the stories of a number of intriguing characters, from the Elizabethan magician John Dee to the mythic Dr Faustus. Focusing on the oneness of everything, hermeticism is a fundamental part of New Age beliefs.
