Synopsis
Mr Scobie arrives at the Nursing Home of St Christopher and St Jude by accident and unwittingly into the clutches of Matron Hyacinth Price, a woman of questionable practices. But Mr Scobie has some recourse - along with his very simple riddle, his nephew Hartley and a group of nocturnal poker players - the foundations of Matron Prices' establishment are rocked forever.

About the Author
Elizabeth Jolley was born in England and moved to Western Australia in 1959.
She is acclaimed as one of Australia's leading writers having published ten novels, three collections of short fiction, poetry and plays.
She has won many awards including the Age Book of the Year for MR SCOBIE'S RIDDLE in 1994.
