It contains data from 700 interviews with rescuers and non-rescuers in occupied countries. It explores the experiences and motivations of those brave individuals. Why did some risk their own and their families' lives in times of danger to help others? The author survived the Holocaust thanks to the help of a Polish woman who sheltered him.
