Jean Robiquet was born at Meudon in 1874. He was educated at the Lycee Henri IV and the Faculte des Lettres, Paris. He entered the Musee Carnavalet in 1897 and was Keeper from 1919-34 and was later Honorary Keeper of the Musee Carnavalet and of the Musee of Ile-de-France. He was made an Officer of the Legion of Honour shortly before his death in 1960.
