About the Author

Anzengruber wurde am 29.11.1839 in Wien geboren, er stammte aus ober�sterreichischem Bauerngeschlecht. Zuerst besuchte er die Realschule, er mu�te sie aber wegen Geldmangels vorzeitig verlassen. Dann begann er eine Buchhandelslehre. Von 1860-1868 war Anzengruber Schauspieler bei verschiedenen Wandergruppen, mit denen er die Provinztheater bereiste. Sein St�ck "Der Pfarrer von Kirchfeld" machte ihn ber�hmt. Sp�ter war Anzengruber Theaterdichter am "Theater an der Wien" und danach am Volkstheater. Er starb am 10.12.1889 in Wien.
