108pp. With an engraved frontispiece and two further engraved plates. Original publisher's black roan backed marbled paper boards, later expertly rebacked in calf. Lightly rubbed. Yellow endpapers, early inked ownership inscription to recto of FFEP, scattered foxing. The second, and final edition of English poet and writer Agnes Strickland's (1796-1874) juvenile narrative in which a father teaches his children to observe the wonders of nature on their daily walks in the country; the story is loosely based upon Adelaide O'Keeffe's (1776- 1865) poem 'The use of sight', first published in Darton's Original Poems for Infant Minds (Vol. II, 1805), the text of which is reproduced here on pp.6- 8. Darton H1505 (2). Size: 12mo.
