N.p., 1936. 11 x 8 1/2". 2 p.l., 115ff. (text on recto, verso blank). In original printed binder. Good, sound copy. Collated and complete. Not in WorldCat. 3 x 5" card presenting the book taped to dedication leaf, "For Sue Gray, a fellow student in the early 80s and a faithful correspondent and friend, I inscribe The Twisting Trail, most cordially, James D. Ellsworth, June 1 1937." Ellsworth's autobiography, including his memories of Milford, Massachusetts, Waterloo, Iowa, Galesburg, Illinois and Colorado as a child and young man. He worked in Colorado as a cowboy, logger, and journalist and then returned east to work as a journalist in New York and Boston and as a press agent. From 1903 until his retirement, Ellsworth worked for the Bell Companies, the American Company, and AT&T. He describes his relationships with Theodore N. Vail and Walter S. Gifford and the demonstration of television with Herbert Hoover, on the phone in Washington, describing the moving pictures sent from the Western Electric Building in New York. Interesting reading, especially for those interested in the early history of AT&T. Seller Inventory # 002067
