Octavo bifolium, approx. 9" x 5½", with a bifolium insert printed on pink paper of testimonials; some toning, previous fold, very good. A prospectus, of sorts for Holcomb's "acoustic speaking telephone" (patented July 9, 1878), complete with a description of the phone, prices and services, etc. The text begins with a printed letter signed by Holcomb and two others, dated April 23, 1878 confirming a conversation over the telephonic line. Alexander Graham Bell was awarded the first U.S. patent for the telephone, on March 7, 1876. Only the Ohio History Connection in OCLC, and not noting the 4-page insert of testimonials.
