There are six items of correspondence: 1. A letter dated July 11th 1893 from Francis's sister Bridget in a simple straight forward style telling him what's happening at home in Cashel. It is some what poignant and captures the life at the time and has an undercurrent of disappointment of him not having made it home. 2. This letter to Mr. Bermingham in Dec 1893 is from Co. Dublin refers to a donation to the United Ireland for Prisoner Aid Fund. 3. A part letter addressed to Francis Phillips Ladys Well from the Treasury Department, Chicago July 1906. The sender refers to himself, his size and to another person, perhaps a brother and his size. There are some other comments from the writer who appears to be writing as a friend or a relation (?). 4.The foruth item is a bill for the Sinn Fein Club Cashel dated July 1918. 5. This letter is from Domhnall O Hogain and is dated 23.1.19. He refers to many things inclkduing him and Eoin O'Duffy missing the fuin of knocking down British buildings. He also refers to knocking peelers in it and that he wrote to Mulcahy today. He tells Phillips not to forget to remember him to the "boys still with you"."By the looks of things we apparently stand a good chance of another holiday - but suppose we will have take it if it's offered." An obvious reference to a likely prison spell. 6. The last letter is from Patrick Hogan on Dail Eireann letterhead is dated 26/4/65. He thanks Phillips for his letter congratulating him on his election. He comments on a few other matters too.There is another letter on the verso of the page that this is written on. This is from Uncle Francy The Lenox Man (Sinn Fein Man) - he refers to a lot of things in it. 7. The final item consists of pages 3-5 in a relatively large and clear hand. The writer (?) outlines his career as an Irish Volunteer for the periods 1st April - 11th July 1921; 12th July to 30th June1922 & 30th September 1923, Part of it reads "Removed dump from former Q. M'S home.McCarthy's residence.after his transfer to I.R.A.I now had 4 servicable revolvers, assorted ammunition.signalling apparatus.remained with me up to & after Truce period." Another section states ".training camp at Puckstown and Loughlinstown.was promoted to 2nd Lieut and posted to D Coy. 2nd Bn. Fianna under F. Scheppie and P. Fitzsimons.to outbreak of Civil War.29th June 1922 was mobilised to .reported to Hammond Hotel O'Connell St. to Liam Langley.remove gelignite.Barry's Hotel.carried out under enemy fire. Remained at Hammond acting as Courier to Mellows (Barney) and there's more. A little research could clarify who this was. Interesting record. Seller Inventory # 021127
