Johann-Samuel Arnhold (German, 1766-1828) [Still life of Pink Roses, Irises and White Carnations] Pencil, watercolor and bodycolor, on grey paper Signed lower right: Arnhold Paper size: 9 1/4 x 7 1/2 in Frame size: 16 1/4 x 19 in Johann Samuel Arnhold was born at Heinitz, a village near Meissen. The artist was trained at the Art School of the Porcelain factory of Meissen, eventually becoming a professor. Arnhold made a name for himself in the development of a decorative style, Voller grüner Weingranz (vine leaf decoration), in 1817.
