Add to basketIndenture written in clear handwriting on parchment, 70x51 cm, dated to 24 June 1700, county of Somerset. A legal contract between Maurise Rayman the Elder and Maurise Rayman the Younger and John Higdon concerning the sum of a 100 pounds (mortgage). To authenticate multiple copies of legal documents like this one, all copies were placed on top of each other and a wavy pattern was cut along to top edge, marking evey copy at once with an identical indenture. Hence the name. In this case there is no wavy pattern, bu a cut corner. With red wax seals on a parchement strip at te bottom and payment seals in the left margin. Signed by several witnesses and John Higdon.
