From the Publisher
My name is Daniel Menaker, and I'm Senior Literary Editor at Random House, and the editor of Julie Hecht's collection of stories, "Do the Windows Open?' It's gratifying to see such good reviews of the book here and in the newspapers; I think Julie Hecht is a rare and original writer of tremendous wit and artistry. Working with her is demanding--she watches everything from commas to book-jacket stock--but publishing this book has proven enormously rewarding. Julie's eye for satirical detail and everyday comedy and disappointment is unerring.
