Size of the binding: 5 1/8 inches x 7 1/2 in., half-title; frontispiece; tree design title-page in green and black; dedication page; contents; introduction. 245 pp., with 12 photographic images of outdoor scenes, some from the Adirondacks, "El Capitan" peak; outdoor themed head-pieces and initial letters. Flexible black leather covers with gilt titling and leaf form decorations on the spine and front cover, endpapers with pine tree designs in light green, all edges gilt. The back cover shows some damp, various degrees of light dampstaining to page margins, especially near the back (this book might have been carried out of doors ?). Light edge wear, foxing (browning or brown-spotting to the photographic illustrations. This copy was inscribed by the author to one of the persons thanked at the end of his "Introduction", on the front endpaper: With love and memories of the Au Sable. The author To Clark L. Ring May 1915. William Chalmers Covert was pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Chicago, and wrote several other "outdoor essay" books, his fishing essay here is partly a sermon about St. Peter, and a complaint about bait fishing for game fish being too easy for the fisherman. This copy in a special type of binding, is a scarce book when inscribed, and probably was carried in the pack of Clark L. Ring.
