Why Jews Should Not be Liberals. This item is unavailable. Why Jews Should Not be Liberals

This Conservative Book Club Alternative Selection, here in its revised, first paperback edition, makes a powerful argument that the principles of Judaism are at odds with the realities of modern liberalism. Larry F. Sternberg chronicles how President Roosevelt wooed Jewish voters to the liberal cause during the Great Depression, despite documented historical evidence proving that Jews are better served by Americas conservative leadership. Topics discussed include government interference, gun control, abortion, affirmative action, and healthcare.

"Timely, convincing, and sharply argued."
-Paul Johnson, historian and author of Modem Times and A History of the Jews

"This is a must read for all Jews."
-Dr. Laura Schlessinger, coauthor, The Ten Commandments: The Significance of God's Laws in Everyday Life

"Persuasive, important, and politically incorrect."
-Michael Medved, author, Right Turns: Unconventional Lessons from a Controversial Life

"The basic beliefs of Judaism are one thing; the way Jews vote is very different. Jews and Judaism prosper in a world of economic and human freedom. The Jews in the United States overwhelmingly vote for measures designed to limit economic and human freedom. Mr. Sternberg gives an extraordinarily clear and simple analysis of this situation and urges Jews to re-examine their voting position."
-Dr. Milton Friedman, 1976 Nobel laureate, author, Capitalism and Freedom

This book makes a powerful argument that the principles of Judaism, its laws, traditions, and commandments, are at odds with the realities of liberalism today. Modern liberalism, with its reliance on the powers of government to solve all of society's problems, its downgrading of the importance of morality and ethics, and its insistence that people are not really responsible for their own actions, is a distinct departure from traditional Jewish teachings. Larry F. Sternberg chronicles how President Roosevelt invoked the Jewish tradition of charity to woo Jews to the liberal cause during the Great Depression. The author then uses verses from the Bible and the Talmud, as well as documented historical evidence, to prove that Jews are better served by America's conservative leadership, despite his coreligionists' almost unanimous support of liberal politicians. Topics discussed include government interference, gun control, abortion, affirmative action, and healthcare.

Larry F. Sternberg served in the United States Navy and received bachelor's degrees in accounting and business from the University of California at Los Angeles before beginning his career as a certified public accountant and an accounting executive. An active member of the Republican Jewish Coalition, Mr. Sternberg currently resides in Santa Ana, California.
