The Capitol Steps began in 1981 at a Christmas party in the office of former Senator Charles Percy. As of 2008 they had recorded 28 albums and appeared on the "Today Show" and many other television programs and many times on National Public Radio's "All Things Considered". Many of the performers have worked on Capitol Hill. The regularly appear at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. Elaina Newport is the current producer.
