Signed offprint from the British philosopher, Dorothy Emmet (1904-2000) who taught at Manchester University and was one of the founding members of the Epiphany Philosophers. Her work often revolved around metaphysics and the interplay between philosophy, science, and religion. She was also important in promoting women in philosophy, mentoring and encouraging young women in the field and promoting the work of her female colleagues through her writings and speaking. This offprint explores the importance of tautologies, or statements that are "true by virtue of their form," in communication and philosophy. An uncommon signature and offprint from an important woman figure in mid 20th century philosophy. 24x16cm, pp15-24, stapled in upper left corner. Signed "with kind regards" by Dorothy Emmet on first page. Sone uniform toning, light wear. Near fine.
