From the Author
Straight to the Top and Beyond is my personal story of making the first ever climb of the 5,000 foot high "Vertical Mile" Troll Wall in Norway ... and of climbing Mount Everest, the world's highest mountain. I use these examples to develop the "Adventure Attitude" strategies for achieving success in today's rapidly-changing world.
Since 1982, I have delivered more than 1,500 keynote presentations and personal development seminars to more than 600,000 people in 30 countries. The book articulates the major content of these presentations. Recent clients of these presentations have included AT&T, Andersen Consulting, Coca-Cola, Dow Chemical, General Motors, IBM, Sprint, Sun Microsystems, USA Today and Walgreens. The message of my book is, however, applicable to anyone struggling to achieve success, no matter what the arena of challenge we are operating within. We are all "mountain climbers" and in today's global environments, we need more than ever to become "adventurers".
It's important to realize that adventure isn't hanging on a rope on the side of a mountain. Adventure is an ATTITUDE that we must apply to everyday life ... facing new challenges, seizing new opportunities, testing our resources against the unknown and, in the process, discovering our own unique potential.
